International Think Tank
Illuminating Our Shared Humanity
An independent research institution providing diverse perspectives on development, international affairs, and cross-cultural understanding. Founded on the belief that the greatest light emerges in the most challenging circumstances.
Our Mission
Independent Research, Global Perspective
The Commonlight Initiative is an international think tank dedicated to illuminating our shared humanity through independent research, rigorous analysis, and dialogue that transcends conventional boundaries.
Founded in 2019 by Michael Peterson, we bring together a network of independent researchers providing diverse perspectives on development, international affairs, and cross-cultural cooperation.
Our work is guided by Peterson's founding insight: that the greatest light can be found in the most bleak of geopolitical circumstances—if we have the wisdom to seek it.
